Hello Ladies,
It was such a joy to see so many of you at the Race Night Summer Party last Thursday and wow, how beautiful you all looked in your race-day finery. I think we had the largest turnout ever! The effort that some of you had made with your hats was fantastic and congratulations to Melanie, who was a very worthy winner of the hat competition, as she had made it herself!

I think that you’ll all agree that the food Mia produced for us was fantastic and if you can find the time to give her a positive review on her website, https://forevergrazing.co.uk, or on her Facebook site, she’d be very please

The star of the evening has to be Drew! Some of you may know that Drew is Sarah Howard’s son and I think that his skilful MCing and score-keeping, together with his humour and banter kept us all on track and well entertained.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable evening and there was a real buzz in the air all night. There are too many fabulous photos to put in my update but please do look on our Facebook site to see them. I don’t quite know how we’ll top this next year - but we’ll give it our best shot!

THANK YOU
• To Mia for producing all the lovely food and Pimms for the party.
• To Casey for ably assisting Mia and for judging the hat competition.
• To Drew for taking charge of the racing and scoring and for handing out the winners’ Medals (and to Sarah for producing such a ‘lovely boy!’).
• To Sharon for taking some fabulous photos of the party (posted on our Facebook site if you haven’t yet seen them). Hopefully they’ll be posted on the ARWI website soon.
• To the Committee for setting up and clearing up and to several very helpful ladies who also assisted with the clearing up.
• To Caroline for organising Cereal Killers yesterday.
• To the organisers of sub-groups that will be carrying on throughout the summer. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

JOLLY TROLLYBUS OUTING
We’ve been talking about organizing a local bus trip to Brighton for a long time, and at our last Committee meeting we finally decided to go for it. So, if you fancy dusting off your free bus pass (or applying for one if you’re of pensionable age) or forking out £2 per journey, come and join us on a bus trip to Brighton on Wednesday, 6th September. You’ll be able to visit ‘Van Gogh Alive’ at the Brighton Dome, or simply spend some time shopping in the Lanes or have a sneaky cocktail on the beach. Either way, it promises to be a memorable day out! It could get ugly, and it’ll definitely be hilarious! We won’t have another meeting before this date so details to follow via the Facebook site and email. I’m hoping that Mary McGivern will put her bus timetable skills to use and let us know of the best times and which busses to catch.
FUNNIES

FINALLY
Although we’re not having a meeting in August, some of the sub-groups will still be operating so please take a look in the Programme of Events below. I’ve tried to add as many events as I can but other activities may occur on an ad-hoc basis. This is why it’s important to keep an eye on our closed Facebook page, where impromptu invitations may appear.
I’m shall be having a few weeks off too, so my next ARWI Update won’t be until September.
I’ll finish on 2 very positive notes: firstly, congratulations to Sarah H, who won the Fruit and Veg Hamper in the raffle at the Country Music event in Hotham Park today.

Secondly, as you know, CoCo has been a challenge, to say the least, since we rescued her 18 months ago. Today, I entered her into the Middleton Village Fete Dog Show - and she won first prize in the Best Pedigree (Large Dog) category! I’m one very proud mum 😊

Whatever you may be up to, have a great summer everyone, from me and your Committee.
