House!!!

Hello Ladies,

It was truly heart-warming to see so many of you who turned up to our Annual Meeting last Thursday. I’m sorry that I wasn’t on best form due to my little accident just before the meeting but I think that all went well judging by the positive feedback I received and all the empty plates! For those of you who were unable to attend, I’ve attached the President’s and the Secretary’s reports to the e.mail.

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and special Mother’s Day today.

THANK YOU

• To the Committee for presenting individual reports and organising the refreshments and sale table.

• To Carol for collecting the Pizzas and providing the salad.

• To Lindsay for reading Sarah’s report and organising the Bingo.

• To Jackie for organising the team for Quiz Night at Seasons.

• To Lindsay for organising Afternoon Tea yesterday.

• To Gina for organising ‘Abba Forever’ tickets.

• To Anita for sourcing so many brilliant items for the sale table and raffle.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

March sees several of our members celebrating their birthdays. As well as all the ladies mentioned in my last update, one of our new members, Kim has a birthday on 22nd March. Welcome and Happy Birthday, Kim!

SALE TABLE

I’m delighted to report that the Sale Table initiative has been really successful and we will continue to run the sale table each meeting. In future, would you please remove the sale ticket and give to Penny so that she can keep track of what’s been sold? This month, the sale table raised an amazing £79.50 for our funds!

GENERAL INFORMATION

1) A reminder that subs for next year are due by 1st April. There will be no increase this year as the Committee decided that our funds would absorb the £2 increase imposed by NFWI. Therefore, £44.00 is payable by BACs if possible or by cheque “Aldwick Revival WI, Sort Code: 60-03-08, Acc. No. 74259172.”

If you are not intending to re-join, would you please let your Hub Leader know so that our records can be amended (I hope this won’t apply to many of you).

2) The April meeting will be the last chance for you to bring your free prize draw ticket from the 2023 Membership Booklet, for more chances to win £500 for our WI.

THEATRE GROUP FEEDBACK

We all had the most brilliant time at ABBA FOREVER last evening, the tribute band was fantastic and by the end some of us were up bopping and everyone was singing along. I hadn’t realised that the diehard fans would be turning up in their finest glam rock, or I’d have dug out my velvet bell bottoms too! It was all great fun, they really were a phenomenal game changer for pop music in the seventies.

Speaking of seventies icons, I shall bring with me to the next meeting sign-up sheets for ‘Rock Follies’ at Chichester and would implore anyone signing up to PLEASE add their contact details as requested!

Meanwhile, I’ll have a look at possible dates and select one because as it will be summer, I’m thinking an evening performance might make another great night out.

Whilst at The Regis Centre I had a look at the exhibition of the plans for redevelopment and would urge anyone who’s interested in what happens along Bognor seafront to do the same. The new building looks “new Art Deco”, so the experts on hand called it, (I thought Odeon cinema) and will have much more performance, technical storage and relaxation space, although sadly only thirty or so more seats in the new auditorium, albeit with improved raking and legroom, not before time! He said they were aiming to close around November this year, should planning permission be granted, and reopen mid 2025, so the sooner the better I reckon.

Also, the sign-up period for the matinee performance of ‘Anything Goes’ on Saturday, 20th May, is next Sunday, 26 March, as even then I think tickets might be selling well, please contact me, Gina, at my email address on the newsletter.

Please see Programme of Events below and don’t hesitate to let me or your Hub leader know of any ideas you may have for future activities or speakers.

Tomorrow’s Spilling the Beans will be held at ‘Delicious’, London Road, as Emily at The Aldwick Deli is having a few days off.

Have a good Easter everyone.
