Hello Ladies,
Well, what a fabulous evening we had last Thursday! Andy Thomas is one of our favourite speakers and once again, he didn’t disappoint. I learnt so much about the traditions and superstitions surrounding the Lewes Bonfire Night and I hope you did too. When I spoke to Andy afterwards, he said that he has at least another three talks that he can give us, so I’ll get on and book him again for next year.
THANK YOU
· To Andy Thomas for another riveting talk.
· To Sarah S’s Hub for providing such outstanding refreshments.
· To those of you who brought along a visitor to the meeting, two of whom have joined!
· To Sarah H for sourcing the lovely raffle hampers.
· To Doreen & Gill for running the raffle.
· To Lindsay and Jan Ellison for producing the new members’ badges.
· To Lindsay for organising another successful Afternoon Tea yesterday.
· To Jackie and Julie for volunteering to represent our WI at Westergate WI’s Christmas Party.
· As always, to all the members of your Committee who do so much in the background.
UPCOMING BIRTHDAYS
Happy Birthday to the following ladies, whose birthdays are in November: Sharon, 3rd November; Trish, 22nd November; Lynn, 27th November; Gina, 30th November.
I hope you all have a very special day on your birthday.
GENERAL INFORMATION
November meeting.
At the November meeting, we will be having a wreath-making demonstration followed by the opportunity for us all to make our own wreaths. The Committee decided to use our funds to pay for all the materials for your wreaths and for this to be your WI Christmas present this year. In this way we hope that you will benefit from enjoying your wreath for the whole of December and beyond. Of course, if you have any bits ‘n bobs that you’d like to add to your wreath, start collecting now and bring them along to the meeting.
I know that it’s still a bit early to be mentioning the “C” word, but we will be collecting wrapped Christmas presents in support of My Sister’s House at the November meeting. If you would like to donate a present which is appropriately marked for the intended age group and sex of the recipient, that would be most kind.
FUNNIES
FINALLY
After speaking with a number of you at last week’s meeting, I am well aware that so many of our members are suffering from ill health or are struggling with looking after loved ones with ill health. Please remember that it is in the DNA of the WI to help each other out. Please do not hesitate to contact your Hub Leader or anyone on the Committee if you need help with anything at all, even if it’s just to have a chat over a cup of tea to offload. For those of you who are struggling with ill health, have had or who are about to have an operation, I’d like to offer you all love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I’m looking forward to seeing 19 of you at the Dining Divas meal on Wednesday.
Happy Halloween to you all, have a spooktaclular evening if you are trick or treating with the family.
Have a good week everyone.
