Hello Ladies,
What a glorious, warm week we’ve had. Too hot for some, I know, but I’m not complaining because we’ve waited so long for it. I’ve started to check the ‘Safer Seas’ App and have taken CoCo to the beach for a swim in the sea. This is definitely her happy place and it’s so lovely to witness her pure pleasure as she frolics in and out of the waves. I must admit though, I haven’t yet joined her. The water’s still far too cold for me.
The summer solstice arrives on June 21st, this being the longest day of the year. It contains more hours between sunrise and sunset than any other day, presenting us with ample opportunities for warm weather activities and simple summer fun.
THANK YOU
· To Kathryn S from the Life Centre for an interesting talk on Thursday. Kathryn is also interested in becoming a member of our merry band sometime in the future.
· To Caroline for organising Cereal Killers yesterday.
· To Penny’s Hub for providing such lovely refreshments for the meeting.
UPCOMING JUNE BIRTHDAYS
Jackie, 21st June; Jane, 22nd June; Mia, 29th June.
I hope you each have a very special day.
GENERAL INFORMATION
THE MOONLIGHT WALK
Well, the ‘Magnificent Seven’ did themselves and ARWI proud at the Moonlight Walk last night! Their joint fundraising effort has raised over £1000 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. A huge “Well Done” and congratulations to Caroline, Penny, Sarah, Heather, Jane, Maureen and Kim for a job well done. Also, huge thanks to those of you who have so generously contributed in any way to the fundraising. We are a very caring and giving WI and I’m proud to be your President.
VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
Speaking of being proud to belong, we had a visit from Jacky B to our last meeting. Jacky is a member of Westergate WI and she has recently taken up the role of Advisor for a group of West Sussex WIs, ours being at the top of her list.
Following her visit Jackie sent me the following email:
“Hi Aileen,
Thank you for a great evening. I really enjoyed it. What an interesting list your WI does. Also thank all your members for making me so welcome. I wish you and your members good health and happiness. Your WI doesn’t need any help, but if you ever do, please contact me any time.
Best Wishes
Jacky B x🌸”

QUICK SEWING PROJECT
I saw this on Pinterest and thought what a pretty and simple project it was….
What you need to make Liberty fabric laces
• Long strips of fine cotton fabric (cotton lawn is ideal)
• Matching thread
How to make Liberty fabric laces
1. Remove laces from shoes and measure their length.
2. Add 2cm and cut a 4cm-wide strip of fabric to this measurement.
3. Press under 1cm on all edges, then press in half lengthwise to make a 1cm-wide lace, and stitch close the edges. Thread through lace holes in pumps.
